crisis
The crisis is the peak moment of tension in the action of a work, the moment of highest indecision.
Pygmalion Example: In my opinion, the crisis of Pygmalion occurs at the very end of the play when Higgins and Eliza are arguing over whether or not she should come back and live with him. All their arguments and the tension between them come to a head in this scene and the decision of whether or not she comes back to live with him determines whether or not they can get past their differences. In the end, Eliza doesn’t make a definitive decision and the audience is left with ambiguity, heightening the indecision. |
