Mood
Mood is a literary element that evokes certain feelings or vibes in readers through words and descriptions. Usually, mood is referred to as the atmosphere of a literary piece, as it creates an emotional situation that surrounds the readers. It can be developed through setting, theme, tone and diction.
Pygmalion Example: At the end of act 1, when Eliza is arriving home from covenant square, the author describes Eliza’s living situation. Through a detailed description of the setting (including Eliza’s decaying house, sparse and sorry decorations, and poverty driven routines) the author establishes a dreary and dismal mood with the audience. |
