setting
In literature, the word ‘setting’ is used to identify and establish the time, place and mood of the events of the story. It basically helps in establishing where and when and under what circumstances the story is taking place.
Pygmalion Example: In general, Pygmalion is set in London at the turn of the century. However, certain parts in the play take place in more specific settings such Act 1. Its set in Covent Garden under St. Paul’s church at 11:15 pm in the summertime, and torrents of heavy rain are falling. |
